UC Irvine has an international reputation in neuroscience research, and offers academic excellence and flexibility. Students who are interested in the neurosciences have several options for admission to PhD programs. These include:

  1. The Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program offers first year coursework and research opportunities across a broad spectrum from molecular neurobiology through cognitive neuroscience. Students in this umbrella program have the opportunity to train with any faculty members of a participating department. After a first year of general neuroscience training, students will join the more specialized graduate program of their chosen thesis advisor.
  2. Students may also select direct admission to one of the following graduate programs that offer more specialized training in various aspects of neuroscience.
